Johanna never wanted to be known as a witch, but the choice was stolen away. In the small town of Oakmore, she had always refused to embrace her mother’s bleak legacy of the occult and worshipping the dark powers, and Johanna just wanted to be a normal teenage girl. Then a terrible and cruel act by one of the town’s favourite sons ignites the flames of revenge and hatred, and Johanna seems to take a path of vicious retribution. But is it Johanna or her mother who torments the town?
Sixteen years later, Paul Waterford returns home to witness the decay and ruin of Oakmore. He doesn’t accept Johanna is at fault. Instead, he believes that Johanna has the answers. She’s someone to be trusted, and even someone who deserves a friend.
But revenge is a dish best served cold, and Paul doesn’t know that after so many years a dreadful spell is about to turn full circle.
Not even falling in love will be enough to stop it.

This novel was originally intended to add to my catalogue of traditional horror novels but didn’t quite fit well with that genre and didn’t get over my publisher’s desk. Instead, today with its theme of a young woman using witchcraft and the occult to fight bigotry and sexism, The Witch’s Daughter is finding an entirely new readership.

To create that narrative, The Witch’s Daughter contains a scene that some readers may find distressing, despite that the premise of the novel does foreshadow this (fictional) event. I’ve made every effort to keep the writing within what the story demands and not include gratuitous or excessive description. Still, some people may be triggered, which I completely understand. By the time you get to the core of this scene, it should be quite obvious what will happen, and you can skip forward a page or two without losing the plot.

Other scenes in this book contain strong sexual themes and elements of that original horror, but I’m confident they aren’t beyond the sort of material that’s acceptable for adult readers looking for a horror story. As I said, this is after all a tale about witches, revenge and the occult.

You’ll find the book on AMAZON HERE. It’s the US page by default, but you’ll be redirected to whatever country’s store you need. There’s no paperback available yet, however it’s on my to-do list. If you’re keen for a paperback version, please let me know and I’ll prioritise that.
